Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District update

Excerpts from TheChicagoTribune.com: On May 15, the newly deployed emergency rapid response vehicle made its first call at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, arriving in just 90 seconds to provide medical assistance. This is a significant improvement over previous response times, which were around five minutes before the vehicle was re-equipped. Fire Battalion Chief Scott Motisi from the Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District explained that without this specialized unit, a fire engine would have had to come from the Barrington Hills station, which is farther away. The 2004 Ford Excursion has been upgraded with medical equipment typically found on an ambulance, as well as hydraulic tools and a four-gas monitor. “This vehicle can handle nearly any situation in the critical first five minutes of an emergency,” Motisi said. The district covers 46 square miles, serving parts of Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Lake Barrington, Inverness, Fox River Grove, and unincorporated areas of Cook, Lake, and McHenry counties—home to approximately 20,000 residents. Many of these areas lack fire hydrants, so firefighters rely on nearby retention ponds and water tenders for firefighting operations. “This is a choice made by the communities,” said Roman. “They prefer larger lots and a more rural setting.” Tom Long, president of the fire protection district, emphasized the importance of quick access to both fire and medical services. “We’re always looking for cost-effective ways to reduce response times,” he said. The vehicle operates from the South Barrington Police Department between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, when most calls are received. “It’s data-driven. We analyze where and when incidents happen,” Long added. The unit responds to eight to 10 calls per week, helping the district meet the American Heart Association’s six-minute target for cardiac emergencies. Fire Chief Jeffrey Swanson mentioned that the district is planning to open a third station, and this new vehicle will play a key role in preparing for that expansion. “We haven’t selected a site yet,” he said. The current Ford Excursion, valued at $47,500, includes all the necessary medical and emergency equipment. A new, fully equipped model would cost the district $113,000.

Carbon Black N220

This product, also known as Intermediate super abrasion furnace black;ISAF, is a kind of wet hard Carbon Black, It has a high structure and its wear resistance is between super wear-resistant furnace black and high wear-resistant furnace black.Carbon Black N220 is suitable for tread rubber such as truck tire and passenger tire, and rubber products requiring high strength and high wear resistance, such as high-strength transport belt and industrial rubber products. Compared with N330 carbon black, the abrasion resistance of the compound containing N220 carbon black is 10% ~ 20% higher, which can give the compound higher tensile strength and tear strength, and have certain conductivity, but the heat generation and hardness are higher.

Application: it is used for tread rubber materials such as truck tires and passenger tires, and rubber products requiring high strength and wear resistance, such as high-strength conveyor belts and industrial rubber products. This product is suitable for all kinds of rubbers, giving the rubber good tensile strength and tear strength, and has certain conductivity, but it has high heat generation and strength. Carbon black N220 is used in many industries with its excellent quality, such as rubber, plastic, coating, ink, textile, ink toner, etc.
