Recently, prototypes of 500 kV HVDC circuit breakers independently developed by China Xideng have passed type tests. This indicates that following the ±500 kV and ±800 kV flexible HVDC converter valves, China Xidian has made another major breakthrough in the core equipment of high-voltage flexible HVDC transmission systems.
It is reported that the successful development of the prototype of a 500 kV HVDC circuit breaker symbolizes that China XD has a complete set of design and equipment supply capabilities in the research of ultra-high voltage flexible HVDC transmission engineering systems, converter valves, valve control, and DC circuit breakers. It laid a solid foundation for China West Power to develop flexible HVDC projects at home and abroad.
