If the ammeter pointer swings in the "+" direction, indicating that the closing voltage is high, the spring pulling force should be weakened; if the ammeter pointer is swung in the "-" direction, the closing voltage is low and the spring pulling force should be increased. Repeatedly adjusting this way until the current meter pointer hardly swings when the interceptor contact is closed, indicating that the closing voltage is appropriate.
2. The adjustment of the voltage regulation value is performed by connecting two dry batteries in series with the battery and the ammeter, and connected to the battery terminal of the regulator. Start the engine and gradually increase the speed. Observe the pointer of the ammeter while the regulator is active. If the current meter pointer swings in the "+" direction, it means that the voltage regulation value is high, and the spring tension should be reduced; if the current meter pointer swings in the "-" direction, it means that the voltage regulation value is low, and the spring tension should be increased. Repeatedly adjusting this way, until the regulator acts, the ammeter pointer hardly swings, indicating that the regulator value is appropriate.
The principle of this adjustment method is that the dry battery is connected in series with the battery, and has a certain potential, and the generator emits a certain voltage, and when the two are not equal, a current is generated. If the former is higher than the latter, the ammeter pointer is in the "-" direction, and vice versa. The ammeter pointer does not swing until the two potentials are approximately equal.
