Here's a report from Eric Haak:
A fire broke out early Sunday morning (April 12) in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. At approximately 01:43, the Main Fire Alarm Office received a Still & Box Alarm for a report of people trapped inside a burning building at 22nd and Wolcott Avenue. First due units arrived within one minute of the alarm being dispatched and reported that flames were already visible through the roof. By 01:45, the 4th Battalion Chief requested an EMS Plan I and noted that fire was present on all three floors. At 01:51, Engine 2-2-1 took control of the incident and ordered a 2-11 Alarm just three minutes later. As the situation escalated, crews were pulled back from the structure around 02:00 to initiate a defensive attack. Throughout the operation, three master streams were actively deployed along with several hand lines. Tower Ladder 5 and Engine 23’s deck gun were positioned in Sector A, while Squad 1A was stationed on Wolcott in Sector D.By around 03:00, the fire had spread into the cockloft on the B side of the exposure. To combat this, Tower Ladder 39 was brought in as a fourth master stream. Engines 23, 18, and 39 were all pumping at full capacity during the response. Fortunately, all 21 residents of the building managed to escape without injury. I apologize if any details in this account are slightly off, but I believe this is a solid summary of what occurred.
