YESCO Electronics, based in Utah, USA, is part of the YESCO Group and manufactures LED modules. The company became part of Samsung Electronics on Tuesday (US time), the South Korean technology company said in a statement. Founded in 1988, YESCO Electronics has an advantage in the digital signage product industry, including large outdoor advertising displays. Samsung said it will push it into the emerging business. LED-based commercial displays have considerable promise because they can be used in different environments. Through this acquisition, we are committed to spreading the value of LED outdoor displays to consumers around the world, said Kim Seok-ki, head of Samsung's electronic imaging display division. YESCO Electronics' products are used in outdoor advertising displays including Piccadilly in London, five-star Wynn Las Vegas, Ao Moon Resort and casinos in the United States. In the case of a sluggish sales of its smartphones, Samsung Electronics has been seeking to develop its digital signage business as its new source of profit. Its existing commercial display business is primarily based on liquid crystal display (LCD) panels and is suitable for use in smaller indoor environments.
