Zhang Jian, deputy director of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Industry and Industrial Science and Technology under the Ministry of Commerce, highlighted on the 26th that automotive products represent the most promising category among China's major export commodities. To ensure a sustainable, healthy, and rapid development of auto exports, the government plans to implement ten new policy measures aimed at boosting the sector.
Speaking at the 2006 China (Guangzhou) Automobile Development Forum, Zhang delivered a speech titled "The Situation and Tasks of China's Automobile Product Exports." He emphasized that auto exports play a crucial role in driving China's foreign trade growth and called for proactive government support.
The government will focus on guiding the industry, improving the export environment, building efficient export platforms, enhancing services, and ensuring a more orderly export process. These efforts are designed to foster long-term stability and competitiveness in the global market.
The ten key policy initiatives include: first, establishing a public R&D platform for auto export companies, especially small and medium-sized parts manufacturers, by learning from international best practices; second, leveraging export credit insurance to promote auto product exports; third, increasing financial support for both buyers and sellers in auto trade; fourth, promoting the development of Chinese-owned brands in overseas markets; fifth, encouraging strategic partnerships between auto exporters and transportation companies; sixth, facilitating mutual recognition of Chinese auto standards with countries that show high export potential; seventh, enhancing information services to help businesses navigate foreign technical barriers; eighth, creating an international platform for auto parts exchange to strengthen ties between Chinese and foreign industries; ninth, implementing a credibility evaluation system to protect intellectual property rights; and tenth, raising the entry standards for auto exports to regulate the market more effectively.
In recent years, China's auto exports have seen significant growth, with commercial vehicles being the main category. Car exports have also surged in the past two years. However, alongside this rapid expansion, challenges such as disorderly competition and non-standard export practices have emerged. Addressing these issues is essential to maintaining the long-term health of the industry. (Xinhua News Agency)
