VTI has launched the groundbreaking SCP1000 series of pressure sensors, offering exceptional accuracy and ultra-low power consumption, making them ideal for altimeter applications. This product line covers a wide range of pressures, from 100 kPa (SCP1000-D01) — equivalent to deep water pressure — up to 1600 kPa (SCP1000-D02). As a pioneer in 3D-MEMS technology, VTI’s absolute pressure sensor delivers sub-meter resolution and 1-meter accuracy under standard conditions, opening the door to numerous commercial and industrial applications.
The SCP1000 includes a 3D-MEMS absolute pressure sensor, an integrated ASIC, and a compact LDS-MID housing measuring 6.1mm in diameter and 1.7mm in height. The ASIC plays a key role by providing a serial interface, along with temperature data, adjustable correction factors, and compensation for temperature drift and sensitivity. The sensor supports four distinct operating modes—high-resolution, high-speed, ultra-low-power, and low-power—to balance performance and energy efficiency based on the application.
In high-resolution mode, the sensor achieves a resolution of over 6 Pa, which translates to approximately 40 cm of altitude change on an altimeter. The update rate directly affects resolution, speed, and power use, allowing users to tailor settings for their specific needs. Notably, in ultra-low-power mode, the sensor consumes as little as 3A–4A, making it highly efficient for long-term use. With its precision and versatility, the SCP1000 is a perfect fit for next-gen consumer electronics and industrial systems.
It can accurately track elevation changes during workouts, helping monitor training progress and calorie burn in sports and fitness. Additionally, its high-speed performance across a broad temperature range makes it suitable for extreme environments like skydiving and gliding. It also enables weather forecasting and oxygen pressure monitoring in outdoor and occupational settings. In healthcare, the sensor's small size and accurate pressure measurements make it valuable for blood pressure and intracranial pressure monitoring.
VTI has long been a leader in motion and pressure sensors for the automotive industry, specializing in capacitive silicon-based solutions using advanced 3D MEMS technology. These sensors are widely used for vibration detection and other critical applications. As a top supplier of low-range accelerometers, VTI holds a 50% market share in the global automotive sector, driven by its cutting-edge technology, innovative designs, and reliable performance.
Based in Finland, VTI is part of the EQT III private equity fund. In 2004, the company reported net sales of €6.2 million and employed 700 people. Its global presence includes sales offices in Germany, the U.S., China, and Japan, as well as a strong European network. Beyond its headquarters in Vantaa, Finland, VTI operates a manufacturing facility in Mexico, ensuring efficient production and distribution worldwide.
