1. What materials can a waterjet cut?

2. How thick will a waterjet cut?
In our waterjet test cutting lab, we've cut metals as thick as 20", including 15" titanium. While some shops limit metal cutting with abrasive waterjet to around 5-6", we've seen examples of much thicker cutting, especially for exotic materials or for thick materials that must be cut to near net shape with no Heat Affected Zone.
3. Positioning accuracy vs. tolerance
Waterjets can make parts to very tight tolerances, with some machines achieving up to ±0.001" (0.025 mm), though ±0.002" (0.05 mm) is more realistic in most cases. A machine that can position the cutting head to within 0.001" (0.025 mm) might still produce parts accurate to only 0.005" (0.12 mm).
4. What are the differences between pure waterjet and abrasive jet cutting?
A waterjet cutter uses a high-pressure jet of water or a mixture of water and abrasive to cut a wide range of materials. Pure waterjet refers to cutting without abrasives, typically for softer materials like wood or rubber, while abrasive jet cutting is used for harder materials such as metal or granite.
5. What is the working pressure range of a waterjet cutting machine?
We offer three types of high-pressure pumps, with operating pressures ranging from 50000 psi to 60000 psi, and maximum pressure up to 60000 psi to 87000 psi.
6. What is included in a full set of waterjet cutting machine?
A complete set includes a CNC controller, worktable, pump, and abrasive delivery system. Additional options may include a chiller, abrasive removal system, cooler, and water softener unit.
