2. How thick can a waterjet cut?
In our testing lab, we've cut metals up to 20", including 15" titanium. While many shops limit abrasive waterjet cutting to around 5-6", we've handled much thicker materials, especially for exotic or near-net-shape cuts without heat-affected zones.
3. Positioning accuracy vs. tolerance
Waterjets can achieve tight tolerances, often ±0.002" (0.05 mm), though some machines can reach ±0.001" (0.025 mm). A precise head position doesn't always guarantee the same level of part accuracy due to other factors.
4. What's the difference between pure waterjet and abrasive jet cutting?
A waterjet cutter uses high-pressure water or a mixture of water and abrasive to cut various materials. Pure waterjet is used for softer materials like wood or rubber, while abrasive jet is for harder materials like metal or granite.
5. What is the working pressure range of a waterjet cutting machine?
We offer three types of high-pressure pumps with operating pressures ranging from 50,000 psi to 87,000 psi, depending on the application.
