Several contributors recently had the chance to visit the CFD Special Operations warehouse located at 39th and Honore, where they captured a series of photographs showcasing the specialized equipment and apparatus stored there.
These images were taken by Dennis McGuire, Jr., who provided a detailed look at some of the key vehicles used by the Chicago Fire Department's Special Operations unit.
The first photo features **Haz Mat 5-1-3**, a 2002 Ford F-350/American LaFrance Medic Master. This vehicle is used as an "Ex" training ambulance at the Fire Academy.
Another image highlights **Support Unit 5-6-4**, a 2010 Ford F-550 built by Auto Truck Inc. The unit has a Shop ID of G-578 and plays a vital role in supporting various operations.
A third photo shows **Unit 5-6-7**, a support vehicle designed to transport one of the four POD units. It’s a 2008 Freightliner M2 from H.C.I. Fabrications, equipped with a 3000-pound capacity roll-off truck. Its Shop ID is G-570.
Finally, the last image captures the newly acquired **Deluge Wagon 6-7-3**, which is currently awaiting deployment to Engine 108’s station. These photos offer a rare glimpse into the advanced and well-maintained fleet that supports emergency response efforts in the city.
