The Lake Zurich Fire Department rushed to a reported structure fire around 1:00 AM this morning at 1025 Old McHenry Road. The location is just about 100 yards from their #3 fire station, located at 1075 Old McHenry Road. Upon arrival, the first responding unit encountered heavy flames on the eastern side of the two-story home. Due to the intensity of the fire, the alarm was upgraded to a MABAS Box Alarm to bring in more personnel. Later, the incident was escalated to a second alarm as additional resources were needed for the extensive overhaul required at the aging residence, which had undergone multiple renovations over the years.
One challenge faced by firefighters was securing a reliable water supply. The initial hydrant used by the engine failed, causing a brief delay in water delivery. Despite this setback, crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
