A fire broke out around 8:15 AM on Sunday morning at a 25×50, one-and-a-half story brick home located on the 900 block of North Harding in Chicago’s 13th Battalion. Engine 95 was the first to arrive and immediately reported that the house was fully involved. Firefighters noticed an enclosed wood frame porch at the rear of the building, which appeared to be the origin of the fire. The home had been vacant for some time and had experienced multiple break-ins recently. As the fire spread, it reached the neighboring house to the north, causing damage to the frame dormer of another one-and-a-half story structure. Fire companies on scene included Engines 95 and 76, Trucks 35 and 26, with Truck 36 serving as RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) under the 12th Battalion. The response was quick and coordinated, showing the professionalism of the Chicago Fire Department.
