Two new fire departments have been added to the site, though neither is fully complete yet. In Division 3, Prospect Heights features two stations. Station 39 has already been completed, while Station 9 currently has one of its seven rigs posted. The remaining rigs are expected to be added this week.
Additionally, Buffalo Grove in Division 4 now has three stations listed. However, the rig postings for these stations are still in progress, and some data needs updating to ensure accuracy.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to Karl Klotz for submitting the majority of Division 19’s information for processing and upload. Since Division 19 doesn’t even have a MABAS page on the site yet, this will take some time. As with other divisions, there may be initial gaps in the department listings, but we’ll update them as soon as possible.
Hank Sajovic generously shared 115 images of Chicago Fire Department (CFD) firehouses. These will require several days of preparation before they’re all posted. Hank mentioned that about 10 to 15 of the photos need updating from their original shots, and he plans to handle those before summer ends. Speaking of Hank, he’s also working on a new book featuring his collection of Chicago firehouses — it’s set to be released in the future.
As visitors to the site, please keep in mind that we’re still in the early stages of development and it will take at least six months to fully launch. During this time, we’ll be posting available images with the intention of updating or replacing them when better-quality shots become available. For example, a rig might be shown from the officer’s side, which isn’t the standard view, or captured at an actual incident. Some photos may have been taken in less-than-ideal weather, or for other reasons, and the photographer might want to improve them later. We’ve decided to post what we have so that departments can be featured as accurately as possible. When better images become available or when other photographers submit improved shots, we’ll make updates and note them here.
Most of the stations in Division 3 have recently been rephotographed and should be added to the site this week, depending on availability and time.
