Two new fire departments have been added to the site, though neither is fully complete yet. In Division 3, Prospect Heights has two stations. Station 39 is now fully completed, while Station 9 currently has one of its seven rigs posted. The remaining rigs are expected to be added this week.
Additionally, Buffalo Grove in Division 4 features three stations. While the initial setup is underway, the rig postings are not yet finalized, and some data will need to be updated for accuracy.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to Karl Klotz for submitting the majority of Division 19’s content for processing and uploading. This will take a few days, as Division 19 doesn’t even have a MABAS page on the site yet. As with other divisions, there will be some gaps initially, but we’ll update them as time allows.
Hank Sajovic generously provided 115 images of Chicago Fire Department (CFD) firehouses. These will require several days of preparation before they’re all posted online. Hank mentioned that about 10–15 of these photos may need updating from their original capture, and he plans to address those before summer ends. Speaking of Hank’s collection, he’s also working on an upcoming book, which will be released at a later date.
As visitors to the site, please keep in mind that we're still in the early stages of development, which will take at least six months to fully launch. During this time, we'll post the images we have available, with the understanding that some may be replaced or updated in the future when better-quality shots become available. For example, a rig might be shown from the officer’s side — which isn’t the standard angle — or captured on scene during an incident. Some images may have been taken in less-than-ideal weather, or for other reasons, and the photographer may want to improve upon them. We’ve chosen to post what we have so that the departments are represented as accurately and thoroughly as possible. When updates are made or new images are submitted that offer a better perspective, we’ll note those changes here.
Most of the stations in Division 3 have recently been rephotographed and should be added to the site this week, depending on availability.
We encourage our readers to send us comments or emails about apparatus that's on order or has recently arrived, so we can stay up-to-date and provide accurate information. Your input helps us maintain the best possible resource for fire department information.
